Q: What is Purple tea?
This is a camellia sinensis variant. The varietal’s official name from the Kenyan Tea Research Institute is TRFK 306, though it’s known as purple tea because of to the plant’s distinctive, purple-reddish leaves. This is due to high levels of anthocyanins, the same antioxidants that give color to foods like blueberries, cranberries and grapes. Because of their ability to track down free radicals in the body and reduce inflammation in the cells, anthocyanins are believed to be a mighty health-boosting antioxidant. Scientific peer Studies International journal of biomedical science have suggested a link between anthocyanins especially GHG with anti-obesity effects, reduced cardiovascular disease and improved memory.

Q: What is organic lemongrass?
Lemongrass, scientifically known as Cymbopogon citratus is also used as a culinary herb in many parts of the world.  Organic lemongrass in tea is imparts a delicious and beneficial beverage that can help the body in many ways, including the ability to improve digestion, lower blood pressure, prevent chronic disease, boost the metabolism, protect the skin, aid the immune system and so much more.

Q: What is black tea?
Black tea, also known as “red tea” in China for its rich, reddish infusion, is comprised of one of two different forms of the camellia sinensis plant: camellia sinensis sinensis and camellia sinensis assamica. Dry black tea leaves are 100% oxidized, leaving them with a blackened color, and the process always involves withering, rolling, oxidization and drying.

Q: What is green tea?
Green Tea is plucked, withered and rolled. It is not oxidized because during the rolling process, oxidation is prevented by applying heat. For The liquor of a green tea is typically a green or yellow color with titillating flavors.

Q: What is direct trade and sustainability?
As a direct importer, we are proud of our participation in direct trade coffee and Tea since the beginning of the company’s creation. We purchase our tea and coffee directly from small farms and co-ops in Kenya. We are determined to make sure our suppliers follow equitable labor practices and sustainable environmental crop husbandry.

Charm city coffee and tea company submits part of our sale proceeds to charities in our acquisition areas. The charitable contributions help improve workers’ wages, build better schools, cultural exchanges, promote gender equality and fights against child labor in tea and coffee producing areas.

Q: What is your coffee roasting and shipping schedule for retail mail order?
We roast to order every week, and will ship coffee within 1-3 days of its roast date. Orders received by Wed at noon will be shipped by end of day Wed. Orders received after this and over the weekend will be roasted and shipped on Tuesdays

Q: When do you ship the coffee or tea subscription?
A: We roast all subscription coffees on Tuesdays.  our monthly subscription is roasted and shipped each month on a Tuesday. Tea orders are shipped on first Mondays.

Q: Can I order in larger bags for wholesale or retail locations?
A: Yes! Pricing shown on the site is based on 12oz and 16oz bags. However, if you prefer to receive in 5lb bags, simply email your request to sales@charmcitycoffee.net. We do offer discounts for regular large orders.

Q: Do you ship whole bean or ground?
A: We suggest ordering whole bean coffee, as ground coffee stales exponentially quicker. We only ship whole beans.

Q: Where will you ship orders?
A: We ship anywhere in the continental U.S. with a 2-5-day delivery.

Q: What payment methods do you accept?
A: We accept PayPal, Visa, Mastercard, or Discover, which are all provided online We also accept checks if paid in advance.

Q: What is your return policy?
A: If for any reason you have any issues regarding your coffee or tea order, please contact us immediately at sales@charmcitycoffee.net If something doesn’t taste as good as expected, we’d like to know this.  We are constantly cupping our coffees for quality control, roast profiling, and blend development. For us to evaluate any taste defects, it’s important we receive the coffee while still in its first two weeks.
